Next-Generation Stenting Solutions
Taewoong Medical, a global leader in self-expandable metal stent (SEMS) technology, has released a series of significant product updates to their biliary, duodenal, and colonic stent ranges. Prion Medical is proud to make these innovations available to gastroenterologists across Belgium and the Netherlands.
What’s New
Biliary SEMS: Enhanced Radial Force
The updated biliary SEMS range features a newly optimised braiding pattern that delivers improved radial force across the entire stent length. This addresses a common clinical challenge in cases where tight strictures resist full expansion.
Key improvements include:
- Increased radial force, particularly at the stent ends, reducing migration risk
- Slimmer delivery profile that facilitates placement in anatomically challenging cases
- New 10F delivery system, compatible with most therapeutic duodenoscopes
Enteral SEMS: Improved Flexibility
The duodenal and colonic stent ranges have been updated with a new alloy formulation that enhances flexibility without compromising radial force. This is particularly relevant for colonic stenting, where tortuous anatomy can complicate placement.
Dedicated Biliary Through-the-Scope System
A new through-the-scope (TTS) delivery system is now available for the Taewoong biliary SEMS range, allowing stent placement through the working channel of a standard therapeutic scope without the need for a guidewire exchange.
Clinical Evidence
Taewoong SEMS are supported by an extensive body of published clinical data, with over 300 peer-reviewed publications documenting their safety and efficacy across a range of indications including:
- Malignant biliary obstruction (pancreatic cancer, cholangiocarcinoma)
- Benign biliary strictures
- Malignant gastric outlet obstruction
- Malignant colonic obstruction as bridge to surgery
